Raheny Heritage Society in association with Raheny Library present an online lecture by Michael Branagan on Zoom on  Wednesday 21th April at 7.30pm.

Michael's talk is titled: 'The writing and research of Dublin Moving East and the making of Clontarf by the Bull Wall'
Michael will focus on the impact of land reclamation along Dublin Bay and the Liffey over the last 300 years, which has formed the basis of the modern Dublin city.  In particular, he will look at how the building of the Bull Wall has influenced development along the Clontarf coastline.

Michael Branagan is the author of Dublin Moving East 1708-1844 How the city took over the sea, published in 2020 by Wordwell Ltd.
After his retirement, Michael completed a degree in English and History at St. Patrick's College, Dublin City University, followed by an MA in History at the same college.  His book is based on initial research for a major thesis on land reclamation on the south shore of Dublin City in the eighteenth century, which led to massive urban expansion and formed the basis of the modern city.
